In 1974 I started a career in the automotive industry as a parts driver at City Chevrolet on Morena Blvd. in San Diego, CA. As the guy who worked directly with the back counter personnel and driving all over town delivering parts to all types of repair facilities, I quickly grew to realize how the auto industry was the backbone of the American Economy. It didn't take long for me to crave the lifestyle that may of the successful new and used car salespeople were living for me to transition from parts to the whole enchilada, selling cars. Having worked at a family-owned Chevrolet Dealer in National City to Bob Lewis Volkswagen Peugeot located in downtown San Diego, to Best Chrysler Plymouth owned by Fred and Mary Best in El Cajon to Cunningham BMW in the same city. It wasn't until I met an independent agent for a third-party administrator who provided ancillary products and services to New and Used Car Dealer that I found the right type of work for me. No more bell-to-bell shifts and passive income while providing new profit centers to car dealers that benefit the dealers their customers.
What we look for are not fast buck businessmen. We look for the businessperson who understands selling value with integrity.
